Eggs on toast
Disposable sculpture made from unfired clay, dried and burnished, taking the form of multiple eggs and pieces of toasted bread. The sculptures are temporarily staged and photographed using long-exposure RAW photography, with the illumination created performatively by drawing with light around and across the objects during the exposure. The resulting photographs are completely unedited, deliberately retaining the strange, hyper-real quality that can make them appear almost like AI-generated images. Once the sculpture has served its purpose, a single egg is kept as a secondary souvenir and painted by hand. The painting on the egg becomes a physical record of the making and photographing of the work, reflecting the experience of constructing, staging and recording something that was always intended to be temporary.
