Eggs & avocado
Eggs and Avocado are made from coloured plaster, each incorporating a relief sculpture based on the shape of a food object. The physical form becomes the point of focus, while the larger background is my synaesthetic response to it, translated into colour, pattern and movement. The works form part of a much larger and ongoing exploration of simple shapes and everyday objects, using them as starting points for investigating how a visual form can be experienced beyond its physical appearance. Much of this wider body of work has since been destroyed, while the exploration continues through new objects, combinations and visual responses. The Eggs and Avocado works, however, are pieces I consider finished and resolved.
